Namo Bharat Train: Jindal made 66 coaches from 600 metric tons of stainless steel, see why this train is special

Namo Bharat Train

India’s first semi-high-speed regional rail service, ‘Namo Bharat’ (Namo Bharat Train) has brought about a significant change in the railway system of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged it off. This is being seen as a major progress in the public transport infrastructure of the country.

‘Namo Bharat’ RapidX trains are constructed using stainless steel. This first train has been designed for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS project. The development of advanced and state-of-the-art train sets was supplied by Jindal Stainless to Alstom.

Namo Bharat Train

Jindal Stainless supplied approximately 600 metric tonnes (MT) of world class 301LN stainless steel grade in 2J and 2B finish to Alstom for 11 train sets. Each train set consists of six coaches. Various components of the train, including sidewall skin, brackets, end walls, sole bars, cantrail, roof and under-frame, are being developed using stainless steel.

Jindal Stainless Managing Director Abhyudaya Jindal said that another achievement has been achieved in our 25 years of association with the government in Railways. Proud to have supplied stainless steel for India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).

Namo Bharat trains can run at a maximum speed of 160 km per hour. Due to this, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced by about 40 percent. This has been possible due to the use of stainless steel in the train set. This also significantly increases the safety of the passengers traveling in the train.
