‘My dear friend, thank you…’, President Macron’s reaction on being made the chief guest of Republic Day

French President Emmanuel Macron has thanked India for its invitation to attend the Republic Day celebrations on 26 January 2024 as the chief guest. Now French President Emmanuel Macron will attend the Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest instead of US President Joe Biden. With this, Macron will become the sixth French leader to whom India has given this honour. The Foreign Ministry said that Macron will visit India on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India had invited US President Joe Biden on this occasion, but he had expressed his inability to come here in January 2024.

On his social media X (Twitter), the French President thanked PM Modi and said, ‘My dear friend Narendra Modi India, I will be here to celebrate with you on your Republic Day.’ He said thank you for your invitation. Regarding this, in a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, it has been said that on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, French President Emmanuel Macron will come to India as the chief guest of the 75th Republic Day celebrations.
