Anshu Kumar (24), son of jewelery businessman Manoj Kumar, resident of Dwarkanathpur in Karja police station area of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, was kidnapped on Sunday night for a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. The kidnapper called from his mobile and demanded money. After repeated requests by the family, the deal was finalized for Rs 10 lakh and then for Rs 5 lakh. Without informing the police, the family members kept three and a half lakh rupees in a bag and went to give it to the kidnapper. Meanwhile the police got wind of this. The police conducted a raid within three hours of the kidnapping and recovered the kidnapped Anshu. At the same time, the mobile phone used in the incident and the scooter of the victim have also been seized. The arrested kidnapper is Rahul Kumar, a resident of Karja. He runs a cyber café and a slipper factory.
The police have also detained two more youths in this case. The point of his involvement is being investigated. DSP Headquarters Ashish Anand told that jewelery businessman Manoj Kumar and his son Anshu Kumar, residents of Dwarkanathpur of Karja police station area, run a jewelery shop at Karja Chowk. Anshu has an old friendship with kidnapper Rahul Kumar. They also exchanged money among themselves several times. Meanwhile, Rahul called Anshu to his sandal factory on Sunday night on the pretext of partying. During this time two more friends of Rahul were also present. Everyone ate and drank sitting together.
Made unconscious after giving tablets, then called for ransom
Karja police station inspector Rajesh Kumar Rakesh said that Anshu was given an anesthetic tablet while partying. After becoming unconscious, Rahul called his father from his mobile phone and said that his son has been kidnapped. Pay a ransom of Rs 20 lakh, otherwise he will be murdered. On the request of the family, Rahul had finalized the deal for Rs 10 lakh, then Rs 5 lakh. The police has also obtained the recording of demanding money.
When he reached to pick up the bag of money, he was caught by the police.
Anshu’s father somehow arranged for three and a half lakh rupees in three hours and kept it in a bag. Meanwhile, Rahul was continuously calling her on her mobile and pressurizing her to bring the money. Rahul had asked him to keep the ransom money under a pole near his sandal factory. Due to panic, the family reached the electric pole with the bag without informing the police. The family members kept the bag and went ahead. Meanwhile, Rahul came down from the roof to collect money when the police noticed him. After being caught, he roamed around the police a lot. Said that he had come down from the roof to urinate. When the police took him to the police station and interrogated him strictly, the entire matter was revealed. After this, the police immediately recovered the kidnapped Anshu, his scooter and the ransom money.
Mobile was thrown on someone else’s terrace, secret revealed after recovery
The police station officer also told that when Rahul was coming down from the roof to collect the money, he had thrown the mobile phone from which he had demanded extortion money on someone else’s roof. At first Rahul kept denying the matter of kidnapping. He said that we are friends among ourselves. But, when the surveillance team traced the location of the mobile, Rahul’s entire lie was caught. The police are also interrogating his two friends by taking them into custody. However, both of them say that they have gone to eat and drink.
The role of Anshu recovered from the kidnapper is also being investigated.
DSP Headquarters says that the police is also investigating the role of Anshu to see if he was also involved in the conspiracy to demand ransom money to recover money from his father. Police is collecting evidence on both scientific and manual basis.
