Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Shaili Oberoi was elected as the Mayor of Delhi on 22 February. He defeated Rekha Gupta of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 34 votes. Shaili Oberoi got 150 votes out of total 266 votes, while Rekha Gupta got 116 votes. Delhi got its mayor in the fourth attempt, as earlier attempts were stalled amid an uproar over voting rights given to nominated members.
