Lucknow: Now mafia in the state Mukhtar Ansari And the difficulties of his brother BSP MP Afzal Ansari may increase. The decision will come on Saturday in the almost 16 years old case of Gangster Act in Ghazipur district. In this case, the verdict was to be pronounced on 15 April. But, taking it forward, the court fixed the date of April 29. People’s eyes are fixed on the upcoming decision of the court. Under the Gangster Act, there can be a maximum punishment of 10 years.
Mukhtar Ansari will be produced through video conferencing
According to the rules, Mukhtar Ansari will have to appear in the court at the time of pronouncement of the verdict. However, after the way mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Khalid Azim Ashraf were killed in police custody in Prayagraj, security is being maintained regarding Mukhtar’s appearance. It is being said that Mukhtar Ansari will appear through video conferencing. Mukhtar Ansari is currently lodged in Banda Jail. Whereas Afzal Ansari will have to present himself in the court. Strict security arrangements have been made outside the court regarding this.
17 people testified in Mukhtar-Afzal’s case
The debate on the accused mafia Mukhtar Ansari and his brother MP Afzal Ansari has been completed in the Additional Sessions Judge MP-MLA Court in Gajipur. During the hearing in this case, ten people have testified in Mukhtar’s case and seven in Afzal’s case. Now the verdict is being awaited on this.
MP Afzal Ansari on bail
BSP MP from Ghazipur Afzal Ansari is out on bail in this case. Afzal Ansari’s Lok Sabha membership can be lost if he is sentenced to more than two years by the court. The court had framed charges against Mukhtar and Afzal on 23 September 2022. On January 12, after completion of testimony of the first witness retired Inspector Ram Daras Yadav on behalf of the prosecution, the statement of the second witness Surya Prakash Yadav was recorded on February 14.
Court has decided on April 2
After this, on 21 February, the evidence was presented on behalf of Mukhtar Ansari and Afzal Ansari. Later on April 1, the debate was completed on behalf of MP Afzal Ansari and on April 2, Mukhtar Ansari. After which the court reserved the verdict. After this, the verdict was to be pronounced on 15 April. But, the court fixed the date of April 29 for this. Earlier, in the case of another gangster, on December 15, 2022, Mukhtar Ansari and Bhim Singh have been sentenced to 10-10 years imprisonment.
