Mukhtar Ansari Died: Mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was taken from the district jail to Rani Durgavati Medical College after his health deteriorated on Thursday, where he died of a heart attack. Banda Medical College Principal Sunil Kaushal said that Ansari died of a heart attack in the medical college. Samajwadi Party has described Ansari’s demise as sad. Ansari (63), lodged in Banda jail, was taken to the medical college this evening.

In the medical bulletin issued late night by Rani Durgavati Medical College, it has been said that at around 8:25 pm on Thursday night, the jail staff brought the unconscious convict/undertrial Mukhtar Ansari to the emergency department of Rani Durgavati Medical College, Banda. A team of nine doctors provided immediate medical attention to the patient. But despite best efforts, the patient died of a heart attack.

Earlier, Principal Secretary (Information) Sanjay Prasad had confirmed that Ansari has been re-admitted due to ill health. Uttar Pradesh Police has imposed prohibitory orders in the entire state. Police teams are patrolling in districts like Banda, Mau, Ghazipur and Varanasi. Samajwadi Party wrote on ‘X’, demise of former MLA Shri Mukhtar Ansari ji, sad. May his soul rest in peace. May the bereaved family members get the strength to bear this immense sorrow. Humble tribute!

I felt unwell on Tuesday morning also

Earlier on Tuesday morning at around 4 am, Mukhtar Ansari was admitted to the hospital due to stomach ache, problem in urination and defecation, after treatment Ansari was discharged. Even before this, Bahubali former MLA Mukhtar Ansari, lodged in Banda jail in various criminal cases, was admitted to the medical college after his health deteriorated. According to Mukhtar’s brother MP Afzal Ansari, Mukhtar had claimed that he had been given poison in his food twice. Bahujan Samaj Party MP from Ghazipur, Afzal had said that he received a message from Mohammadabad police station in which he was informed that Mukhtar’s health was unwell and he had been admitted to Banda Medical College. Speaking to reporters after reaching Banda Medical College on Tuesday, Afzal said that Mukhtar was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he is conscious.

According to Afzal, Mukhtar has told him that some poisonous substance has been fed to him in the food and this is the second time this has happened. He said that Mukhtar told him that he was poisoned about 40 days ago and recently it was done again probably on March 19 or 22, after which his condition is bad. Afzal had said that on March 21, on the day of hearing of a case through digital medium in the Barabanki court, Mukhtar’s lawyer had filed an application in the court alleging that his client had been given ‘slow poison’ in the jail due to which his life was slow. The situation is getting worse.

Mukhtar Ansari sentenced in various cases

Mukhtar Ansari, who has been MLA from Mau several times, has been sentenced in various cases and was lodged in Banda jail. About 60 cases were pending against Mukhtar Ansari in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, New Delhi and many other states. Meanwhile, in view of the death of Mukhtar Ansari, the state government has imposed prohibitory orders in the entire state under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar said, Section 144 has been imposed in the entire state to ensure law and order. We are monitoring the situation closely.

Special deployment of forces in Ghazipur and Varanasi districts

Apart from this, special deployment of forces has been made in Banda, Mau, Ghazipur and Varanasi districts. The Director General said, teams of Central Research Police forces along with local police have been deployed in these districts. Apart from controlling the situation at the ground level, the Social Media Cell of Uttar Pradesh Police has been activated to keep an eye on online mediums.
