A petition was filed in the Supreme Court to stop this amid the ASI survey. While hearing this matter, the Supreme Court had recently refused to impose a stay but had also said that no action should be taken on the results of ASI’s survey without its permission. Under an agreement signed by ASI on April 7, 2003, Hindus worship in the Bhojshala complex on Tuesdays while Muslims offer namaz in it on Fridays. Justice Hrishikesh Roy and PK Mishra issued notices to the Centre, Madhya Pradesh government, ASI and others on a plea by ‘Maulana Kamaluddin Welfare Society’ challenging the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s March 11 order on scientific survey.

MP News: ‘No excavation should be done which will change the character of the complex’

The bench said, ‘Reply to the notice within four weeks. Till then no action should be taken on the results of the survey without the permission of this court.
