Congress is still confident of victory

Senior Congress leader and two-time CM Digvijay Singh was an integral part of the Kamal Nath-led Congress party campaign. Singh has been in politics since 1977 and has been in the news for his outspoken and controversial views on various issues. He is currently a Rajya Sabha MP and a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC). Most of the exit-poll projections released on Thursday showed the BJP getting the lead. BJP ahead in trends

But now that the trends have started emerging, Congress has not been able to take advantage of the anti-incumbency wave. Madhya Pradesh has been a stronghold of BJP for the last 20 years. The BJP fought the elections largely under collective leadership, while the Congress projected former chief minister Kamal Nath as its chief ministerial face.

Record voting took place this time

Last time Congress came to power in the assembly elections 2018 and Kamal Nath took oath as the Chief Minister. Later, Jyotiraditya Scindia joined BJP along with 22 MLAs and Shivraj Singh Chouhan again took over as the Chief Minister of the state. This year, the state’s overall turnout for the 230-member assembly reached a record high of 76.22 percent. In 2018, there was more than 74.97 percent voting.
