The Congress President will address a public meeting in Sagar. Let us tell you that assembly elections are to be held in the state after a few months. Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Cell President K.K. Mishra gave information about the public meeting and said that party president Kharge is going to address a meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Kharge will reach Bhopal in the morning and then along with Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath will go to Sagar by road.

Congress sources said Mallikarjun Kharge was scheduled to address a rally in Sagar on August 13, but it was cancelled. Let us discuss here that on August 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the Rs 100 crore memorial-temple of revered saint Ravidas for Scheduled Castes and addressed a public meeting in Sagar.

Talking about Bundelkhand, this area includes Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Damoh and Panna districts, which have 26 assembly seats. Talking about the last election, 15 of these seats went to BJP’s account, while Congress got nine and SP and BSP got one seat each. In Sagar district, the BJP won six out of eight seats, while the Congress was successful in only two seats.

Dalit population 1.13 crore

If we look at the 2011 census, the population of Dalits in Madhya Pradesh was 1.13 crore. In the 2018 elections, B won 18 of the 35 seats reserved for Scheduled Castes in Madhya Pradesh, while the Congress got 17, which was 13 more than in the 2013 election. The BJP government of Madhya Pradesh built a temple of Saint Ravidas in Maihar city of Satna in view of Dalit votes. It is part of Vindh region which shares border with Uttar Pradesh.

15 percent of the voters belong to the Scheduled Castes.

In Madhya Pradesh, 15 percent voters belong to the Scheduled Castes, which the Congress and the BJP are trying to woo in their favor. Out of the total 230 assembly seats in the state, 35 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes, while the influence of Scheduled Caste voters is visible on more than 20 seats. This is the reason that after the tribal class, BJP and Congress are focusing their attention on the scheduled caste class.

Congress got victory in 2018 elections

The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, which ruled at the Center from 2004 to 2014, had announced a package of Rs 8,000 crore for Bundelkhand. It is noteworthy that in the 2018 elections, the Congress formed a coalition government under the leadership of Kamal Nath after winning 114 seats in the 230-member House. After winning just 109 seats, the BJP was voted out of power. However, the rebellion of MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia led to the fall of the Kamal Nath government in March 2020 and the BJP returned to power under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
