MoU signed today for setting up country’s first hydrogen fuel industry in Jamshedpur, investment of Rs 354 crore

On the initiative of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, an MoU will be signed on Friday for the establishment of the country’s first hydrogen fuel industry in Jamshedpur. In the presence of the Chief Minister, an MoU will be signed between Industries Department and TCPL Green Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd (TGESPL) for an investment of Rs 354.28 crore. The MoU will pave the way for the establishment of the country’s first hydrogen fuel industry in Jamshedpur.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren on July 28, for the establishment of Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine, Flight Agnostic Engine, Advanced Chemistry Battery, H2 Fuel Cell and H2 Fuel Delivery System manufacturing unit in Jamshedpur by TGESPL, a joint venture of M/s Tata Motors and M/s Cummins Inc., USA. The MoU was approved between TGESPL and the Industries Department of the State Government.

Whole country will benefit

The whole country will benefit from the hydrogen fuel plant to be built in Jamshedpur. The proposed capacity of the fuel related industry is 4000 plus hydrogen IC engines, fuel agnostic engines and 10,000 plus battery systems. In this work, the latest technology of making hydrogen engine will be used. The capacity of hydrogen is more than that of other fuels. Apart from being cheaper and lighter than other fuels, hydrogen fuel also has a higher energy label. Pollution can be controlled to a great extent by hydrogen fuel. It is considered a better alternative to petrol-diesel.
