Most wanted criminal Pappu Mandal surrenders due to fear of Bihar Police, accused in 9 serious cases

After dodging the Bihar Police for several months, Jamui district’s top most wanted rewarded criminal Pappu Mandal surrendered in Jamui Court on Thursday. After the bail was rejected by the High Court, Pappu Mandal along with his three associates reached the court on Thursday and surrendered. After which Jamui Police has heaved a sigh of relief. Many serious cases are registered against Pappu Mandal. A reward of Rs 50 thousand was also announced against him by the police administration. If police sources are to be believed, a letter was written to the police headquarters to increase the reward amount against Pappu Mandal to Rs 2 lakh. However, it could not be approved. Nine cases have been registered against Pappu Mandal in Jamui Sadar police station for different crimes including assault on police, assault, extortion etc.

Troubled by police raids, Pappu Mandal surrenders

Giving information about this case, Superintendent of Police Dr. Shaurya Suman described the surrender of Pappu Mandal as a big success. He said that a special team was formed to arrest the absconding criminal Surendra Mandal alias Pappu Mandal, who was wanted and declared a reward among the top ten in the district. This included sub-divisional police officer Satish Suman, police inspector cum Jamui Sadar police station in-charge Rajiv Kumar Tiwari, members of DIU Jamui team. This team was continuously raiding dozens of locations in Bihar and Jharkhand for the last one week. Troubled by the continuous police raids, Surendra Mandal alias Pappu Mandal surrendered in Jamui court.

Was on the run for six years

Let us tell you that Pappu Mandal was absconding for the last 6 years. Many serious cases including murder, Arms Act, riot etc are registered against him. After the information of surrender, security was suddenly increased in the court premises. The police team took him to jail from the court premises itself.

An attempt was made to get bail from the court wrongly

It is noteworthy that on July 11, an attempt was made to get the bail of Pappu Mandal by making another person stand in the court premises. Actually, the Superintendent of Police had received information that Pappu Mandal was going to appear in the CJM court for anticipatory bail in the light of the High Court order.

On the above information, with the help of STF, a police team was deployed outside the court premises and many detectives were deployed in the court premises. On the tip of the detective, a person who reached the court in the name of Pappu Mandal was caught. When interrogated, he revealed his name as Suman Kumar alias Amod Sah, who was an associate of Pappu Mandal. In this case, the police had registered an FIR against many people and an FIR was also registered against Pappu Mandal’s advocate and he was later arrested.

The villagers attacked the police who came to arrest them.

Pappu Mandal has a long criminal history. The police have continuously tried to arrest Pappu Mandal. But last year, Pappu Mandal and his associates also carried out a deadly attack on the police team that had come to arrest Pappu Mandal. Last year, on 22 December 2022, a police team had reached Sangathu village of Pappu Mandal to arrest him.

That team included the then Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Sadar Police Station Head Rajeev Kumar Tiwari, Lady Police Station Head Mamta Giri and other policemen. When the police team reached Pappu Mandal’s house and was cordoning off the area and conducting a raid, 30 to 40 unidentified men and women attacked the police team with bricks and stones. Some police personnel were also injured in this attack. During this time, criminal Pappu Mandal had escaped from there by hiding. The police team was continuously searching for Pappu Mandal.
