More than five thousand seats will increase in MBBS in Bihar this year, possibility of opening of 45 new medical colleges

Anurag Pradhan, Patna. Medical entrance examination National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam (NEET) UG 2023 will be conducted on May 5, 2024. National Testing Agency (NTA) has started preparations for the examination. Due to change in the examination pattern, the number of students is expected to increase this time. After increasing the numbers, this time the seats in medical will also increase. This year there will be admission for more than 1.13 lakh MBBS seats. At present there are 706 medical colleges in the country. Of these, there are 1,08,915 MBBS seats.

More than 10,000 medical seats increased last year

Last year, more than 10,000 medical seats were increased. This time too, more than five thousand seats will increase. About 40 to 45 new medical colleges are likely to be opened this year. It has both government and private medical colleges. All colleges will get Letter of Permission (ELOPI) before July 2024. After the exam on May 5, the admission process will start from July. After the opening of new medical colleges, the total number of medical colleges will also be around 750.

Students with additional biology will also be able to give NEET

Gol Institute MD Bipin Singh said that this time the number of applications for NEET UG 2024 will increase. According to the notification of the National Medical Commissioner, students with additional biology can also appear in the NEET exam. Till now these students were not able to sit in the examination. They were considered eligible only after getting recognition through the court. 20.87 lakh students had registered for NEET UG 2023. At the same time, 20.38 lakh students had appeared in the examination. This time more than 22.50 lakh students can register for the examination. Due to this, there will be more than 20 contenders for one seat. There will be more contenders for government seats. In the new session, there will be around 54 thousand seats in private and deemed universities and around 59 thousand government MBBS seats. Based on this, competition in NEET will become tough.

200 MBBS seats will increase in the new session

Two medical colleges will open in Bihar in the new session 2024. Medical colleges will be ready in Saran and Samastipur by March. A letter will be written to NMC for admission on 100 seats each in both the government medical colleges. At present there are a total of 1490 MBBS and 140 BDS seats in the state. Total government MBBS and BDS seats are 1630. In this, admission is done on 15 percent seats under All India Quota. At the same time, admission is done on 85 percent seats under state quota.

There will be a total of 1690 seats in medical colleges of Bihar.

With the increase of 200 MBBS seats, there will be a total of 1690 seats in the medical colleges of the state. Currently 200 in PMC Patna, 120 in DMC Laheriasarai, 120 in Bhagalpur, 150 in NMC Patna, 120 in Muzaffarpur, 120 in Gaya, 120 in IGIMS Patna, 120 in GMC Bettiah, 120 in WIMS Pawapuri, 100 in Madhepura, ISIC Medical College. There are 100 seats in Bihta, 100 in GMC Purnia, 40 in Patna Dental College and 100 in Rahui Dental College, Nalanda.
