Monsoon rains will be less than average in Bihar this year, IMD released forecast

The south-west monsoon rains in Bihar will be below average this year. Average rainfall is possible only in a few districts. In the preliminary forecast released by IMD on Tuesday, it was clearly told that there is no such area in the state, where there is forecast of normal or more rain.

El Nino conditions developing

In the official bulletin issued by IMD Patna, senior meteorologist Ashish Kumar said that IMD will once again issue an updated forecast regarding monsoon rains in the last week of May. It was told in the report that in February and March this year, the snow-covered areas in the Northern Hemisphere were found to be less than normal. This phenomenon usually has an inverse relationship with the monsoon. Also, it has been said in the forecast that at present La Nina has become neutral. An alarming indication has been given in the report that El-Nino conditions are likely to develop during the monsoon.

Heat wave likely from April 14-15

Here in Bihar, there is a possibility of heat wave from 14-15 April. Such situation will continue for three-four days after that. Here on Tuesday, the mercury was recorded between 39-40 degree Celsius in southern Bihar. The highest temperature of the state was recorded at 39.9 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Apart from this, the highest temperature has been recorded at 39.2 in Patna and Dehri, 39.5 in Gaya, 39 degree Celsius in Jamui, Aurangabad and Banka.

Monsoon will be 96 percent in the country

M Ravichandran, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences said that India may see normal rainfall during the southwest monsoon (June to September). This time the monsoon will be 96 percent (it can be up or down by 5 percent) and the country will receive an average long-term rainfall of 87 cm this time.
