Modi government has taken many important steps for the auto industry in 9 years, now it is the turn of the industry

The government has taken several steps during the last nine years to resolve the issues faced by the auto sector and now it is the responsibility of the industry to take initiatives accordingly. RC Bhargava, Chairman of the country’s leading car company Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has said this.

Need to improve production cost

Bhargava told PTI that to grow rapidly and become globally competitive, Indian industry will have to look at itself. He has to see what more can be done to improve overall efficiency, productivity and cost control.

Many opportunities have arisen due to the initiatives of Modi government

He said, “What the government has been doing in the last nine-10 years has created a big opportunity for the Indian industry. In such a situation, many problems coming in the way of the industry have been solved in the past. However, he also said that a lot still needs to be done.

Opportunity due to presidency of G-20

He was asked what the industry should do to take advantage of the opportunity provided by India’s presidency of the G-20. Bhargava further said, “I think Indian industry now needs to accept that it cannot always blame the government for not growing fast and becoming globally competitive. Indian industry will also have to look at itself and see what it can do to improve its overall efficiency, productivity and cost control.

There is a need to take steps in line with what the government has done

He said that there is a limit to what the government can do. He said, “Indian industry needs to take steps in line with what the government has done, because we cannot move forward relying only on the government.” How much can the government do? She can’t run our factories.

Promotion of ‘Make in India’

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently taken several initiatives. These include steps like enhancing ease of doing business, promotion of ‘Make in India’, production linked incentive (PLI) scheme and reduction in corporate tax rate.
