Misinformation is being spread deliberately to delay the payment of MNREGA dues: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal|Mamata Banerjee News|West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday (November 2) alleged that misinformation was being spread deliberately to delay the payment of MNREGA dues to the state. Her allegation has come at a time when just a day earlier she had said that she was extending the deadline set by the Center for clearing Bengal’s dues by a fortnight to November 16. He said that despite the agitation by Trinamool Congress, the Central Government did not release any amount and alleged that misinformation was being spread to mislead people. Mamata Banerjee wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, ‘I have come to know about a deliberate disinformation campaign regarding the release of central funds in MNREGA. Despite our vigorous agitations and submission of detailed factual records and accounts, the Center is dragging its feet and has not released any of the pending funds.

Called it shameful to spread misinformation

Mamata Banerjee termed spreading misinformation as ‘shameful’ for the central government. The central government had earlier said that funds for the rural employment scheme were not released to Bengal due to non-compliance of instructions. He said, ‘Misinformation is being spread to fool people, spread confusion and defame the state government. We need our fair share, we deserve it. Despite leaking of misinformation here and there, we are being deprived unfairly. Have some Shame!!’
