Minister Banna Gupta, against whom yellow letter was issued, is given responsibility in the tender committee.

Ranchi: On one hand, Health Minister Banna Gupta has issued a yellow letter against Jharkhand’s Drug Controller Ritu Sahay and Drug Inspector Putli Billung in the matter related to not effectively stopping the drug trade and providing illegal protection. The Principal Secretary of the Health Department has been asked what action has been taken against them? In the yellow letter written on April 2, it has been said that information in this matter is still not available. Further action should be taken by taking personal interest in such a serious matter.

On the other hand, on behalf of the Administrative Officer cum Officer-in-Charge Procurement Cell of ‘National Health Mission, Jharkhand’, a letter has been issued on April 4 and the responsibility has been assigned to the Tender Document Formulation and Evaluation Committee. In the committee, Ritu Sahay has been given the responsibility of installation and supply of blood component separation unit.

Earlier, there were allegations of not effectively stopping the drug trade and providing illegal protection to the drug trade in connivance with Drug Controller Ritu Sahay and Drug Inspector Putli Billung. In the departmental investigation report, the role of Ritu Sahay and Putli Bilung was mentioned, raising the possibility of drug syndicate working in illegal trade of non-addiction medicines.

On this basis, approval was given to conduct departmental proceedings against both the officials. After the Chief Minister’s approval to take action under the relevant provisions of the ‘Drugs and Cosmetics Act’ and the ‘Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act-1985’ in the drug trade and syndicate operations, an FIR was registered at the government level by the NCB for investigation. Action was recommended. Also, on the basis of opinion received in the departmental investigation, it was decided to initiate departmental action on the basis of suspicious role of the drug controller.
