Meerut University: Two groups of students clash over eating chicken in the hostel mess, police from several police stations on the spot

Late Saturday night, students created a ruckus in the Pandil Deendayal Upadhyay Hostel of Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, in protest against eating chicken. Two groups clashed with each other in the hostel. There was a fight among the students and vandalism started in the mess. Students threw utensils and packets. After this, students belonging to Bajrang Dal raised slogans in the hostel. When the news of non-veg food spread in the hostel, students from nearby MP hostel also reached there and there was an uproar. Seeing the quarrel escalating, the university staff including the Chief Proctor and Warden reached the spot. Someone also informed the Civil Line Police. Immediately the force of 3 police stations including CO Civil Line reached the university. The police also resorted to mild lathi charge to control the students. Police was deployed in the hostel late at night.

Students expressed objection on non-veg

Actually, the students were having dinner in the mess of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Hostel of the University at around 11.00 pm on Saturday night. Suddenly two students started eating cock among everyone. The students had arrived with chicken meat in their bags. As soon as these boys ate non-veg, other boys objected. Protest started. These students were adamant on eating chicken in the mess itself and students of both the groups clashed with each other. After some time, students belonging to Bajrang Dal living in MP Hostel also reached the spot. These students reached there and started sloganeering. The atmosphere started deteriorating further. Police and university staff reached the spot. Meanwhile, a student also got injured. Who was admitted to the medical hospital. The police and staff somehow convinced and pacified the students.

Action will be taken after checking CCTV footage

The university administration is checking the CCTV footage of this entire incident so that action can be taken against the guilty students. When the Proctorial Board staff reached the spot and checked the rooms of the students, they also found hookah in them. Let us tell you that just two days ago, the university administration has banned 3 students in connection with the firing and fight that took place in the university on December 1. The entry of these students has been banned for spoiling the atmosphere of the university. Students again spoiled the atmosphere in the hostel on Saturday night. At the same time, on the whole matter, SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan says that the police had arrived on the information of rioting among the students. The students have been pacified.
