Meerut News Prisoner murdered in Meerut jail, DG Jail suspends four

Meerut: In the case of murder of a prisoner in District Jail (Meerut News), DG Jail has taken major action and suspended two prisoner guards and two head wardens. Also, orders have been given for a departmental inquiry into the matter. DG Jail SN Sabat has handed over the investigation of the case to DIG Jail Subhash Chandra Shakya.

The deceased was accused of acid attack
Rohit (30), a prisoner accused in the acid attack case, was murdered in Meerut District Jail (Meerut News) on Saturday. Rohit and his companion were sentenced to life imprisonment for throwing acid on a teacher. He came out of jail after getting bail from the High Court. But after the petition of the victim, Rohit was canceled and sent to jail again on April 9. When Rohit did not wake up on Saturday morning, the security personnel informed the jail administration. Rohit was immediately taken to the jail hospital. Where he was declared dead. There is a stir in the jail administration after the news of Rohit’s death. His body has been sent for post-mortem.

Family members expressed fear of conspiracy
When DG Jail SN Sabat came to know about the murder case in the jail, he suspended (Meerut Jail) prisoner guards Sanjay Rana, Sanoj, Head Warden Ravindra Singh and Harishankar in this case. A case has been registered in the medical police station in this matter. On the other hand, after Rohit’s death, his family members created a huge uproar. Family members allege that Rohit’s belongings and money were also snatched in jail. He has been murdered as part of a conspiracy. He has accused another prisoner in the jail of murder.

In 2018, Rohit had thrown acid on a teacher from Shatabdi Nagar. Due to which she got 70 percent burns. Six people were sent to jail in this case. On January 14, Rohit was sentenced to life imprisonment. Later Rohit got bail on 24 February 2024. On the appeal of the victim, the Supreme Court had canceled Rohit’s bail. After this he went to jail again.
