Yakub’s sons Firoz and Imran, wife Sanjeeda Begum alias Samjeeda, Faizab resident of Ghosipur, Mujeeb resident of Narheda village and Mohit Tyagi resident of Shastri Nagar have also been included in this gang.

The police is laying siege to Haji Yakub in other cases as well. According to SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan, Yakub Qureshi, a resident of Teliyan Sarai Bahlim, is a vicious criminal, who is active in illegal trade of meat and other heinous crimes to take economic and material benefits by forming a gang with his associates. This gang has been included in the list to monitor and control.

State mafia from former minister and now gang leader

Earlier the economic condition of Haji Yakub was weak. In the 1980s, he started selling lemons in Meerut. After this, he entered politics in 2002 and became the first MLA from BSP. Then he was also a minister. Yakub’s meat factory Al Faheem Meatex Private Limited was raided in the month of March last year. Here meat was being packed illegally and bad meat was being sent to foreign countries.

In this case, 17 people including Yakub, his wife and two sons were named. After much effort, Yakub was arrested from Delhi. Yakub is currently in Sonbhadra jail. Yakub was initially kept in Meerut Jail, but here he was getting complaints of VVIP facilities, due to which the jail was changed from here. Both sons of Yakub are out on bail.
