Meerut: Approach road of Bhimkund Ganga bridge in Hastinapur washed away in water, vehicular traffic stopped

Meerut: A major accident has been averted in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The Ganga bridge connecting Hastinapur-Bijnor has been submerged in water. Local people are upset due to the collapse of the bridge. Traffic has come to a complete standstill. In fact, the approach road was washed away in the Ganges on Monday. Due to this the traffic on this route has stopped. Barriers have been put up by the police to stop the vehicles on both sides.

Approach road of Hastinapur-Bijnor bridge flows into the river

In fact, this morning the approach road of the Hastinapur-Bijnor bridge in Meerut got submerged in the river Ganges. According to the information received, due to the incessant rains, cutting towards the last pillar and approach road of the bridge had started on Sunday. Due to which the bridge was washed away in water on Monday. However, fortunately, there was no loss of life.

Traffic on the route was stopped due to the collapse of the bridge. People now have to go through Bijnor barrage after covering an additional distance of about 60 kilometers to go from Meerut to Amroha, Chandpur, Moradabad, Dhampur and Bijnor to Delhi Meerut.

SDM reached the spot

As soon as the incident was informed, SDM Chandpur Ritu Rani reached the spot. He inspected the spot. During this, the SDM said that the water level of the Ganges has increased due to the rains on the mountains. Due to which the approach road has slipped. However, traffic is being stopped. Necessary guidelines have been given to the officers. There is an appeal to the people that no one should try to go on this bridge. Let us tell you that it has been raining continuously in UP for the last few days. Due to which the rivers are in spate.
