Maruti WagonR Being Modified Into A Helicopter: Amazing feat… Two brothers from Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh Maruti WagonR They were planning to convert it into a helicopter. But his ambitious project suddenly came to a halt when the UP Police stood at his doorstep. The police confiscated the car and also imposed a fine of ₹2,000 on the two brothers. However, the video of the modified WagonR with welded tail and helicopter rotor has gone viral on social media.

The video shows a white WagonR which has been fitted with a rotor and tail made from scrap material. Ishwar Deen and his brother modified this boat to carry brides and grooms during the wedding season. Maruti WagonR Plan was made to use helicopter. He used ‘Jugaad’, popular in India, to modify the car. Both of them were going to Akbarpur to get the car painted when it attracted the attention of the local police officials. The vehicle was taken away by the police but was later released after paying a fine of ₹2,000.

Action taken under Motor Vehicles Act

According to the police, the vehicle was seized because it did not meet the safety standards of Indian roads as directed in the Motor Vehicles Act. Police say that the brothers did not have the authority to modify the WagonR. The police did not accept Ishwar Deen’s argument that modified vehicles like his were running in the neighboring state of Bihar also. Vishnu Pandey, assistant superintendent of police, said, “Modification requires permission from the RTO department, and the vehicle was seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act. We are investigating further.”

Spent around ₹2.50 lakh in modifying WagonR

The brothers had spent around Rs 2.50 lakh on modifying the Maruti WagonR by adding a helicopter rotor and tail to it. He welded the tail rotor of a helicopter to the trunk of the car and also gave it the look of a helicopter by placing a rotor on the roof. Ishwar said, “I had transformed the car for booking during the wedding season so that our family could earn some extra income.” Although he managed to free the car from the police, he had to remove the modifications done so far. He further said, “The police issued a challan of ₹2,000 and asked to remove the rear part of the vehicle.”

Car modification not allowed without authorization from RTO

Car modification is not allowed in India without authorization from the local RTO. Modifications made to the vehicle without informing the local authorities can lead to heavy fines as they are considered illegal acts as per the Motor Vehicles Act. It is illegal for car manufacturers to modify vehicles beyond those sold directly from showrooms as they are considered a potential risk to road safety. The law prohibits such changes to the original design, structure or performance of the vehicle.
