Maruti Suzuki’s focus on export

Maruti Suzuki: Buoyed by record exports in the last financial year, Maruti Suzuki India is confident that its exports will cross the three lakh units mark in the current financial year 2024-25. According to a senior official of the company, the export target by 2030 is eight lakh units.

Plan to export to more than 100 countries

Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce more models in its various export markets spanning over 100 countries, while also expanding the distribution network.

Export of 2.83 lakh units in 2023-24

“Till about three years ago, our exports were in the range of 1 to 1.2 lakh cars annually,” Rahul Bharti, executive director of corporate affairs, Maruti Suzuki India, told PTI. “With the national vision and business ambition, we have grown from these levels to bigger levels.” Decided to increase the scale and reach approximately 2.59 lakh units in 2022-23. After this, in 2023-24 we completed the export figure of 2.83 lakh units.”

Exports increased by 9.3 percent

He said that while the rest of the car industry’s exports actually declined by three per cent in the last financial year, Maruti Suzuki’s exports increased by about 9.3 per cent to 2.83 lakh units. He told that this year Maruti Suzuki had 42 percent share in car exports from India.

Bharti said the company’s strategy is in line with the government’s goal to increase India’s exports under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the production of the company’s electric cars will start in the financial year 2024-25 and it will be exported to developed markets like Japan and Europe.
