New Delhi : India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has announced the recall of 87,599 units of its S-Presso and Eeco models. This decision has been taken by the company to solve the problem of steering rod arising in these vehicles. The company has informed in the information given to the stock markets on Monday that these units were produced during July 5, 2021 to February 15, 2023. For a long time, there were complaints of problems with the steering tie rod of these units.
Vehicles will be fixed without any money
Maruti said in a statement issued that it is suspected that there may be a defect in a part of the steering tie rod used in these vehicles. This may affect the smooth operation of the steering of the vehicle. The company said that owners of vehicles affected by the problem will be called to an authorized workshop where the defective part of their vehicle will be replaced free of cost. This process is starting from 24th July. In the last few years, this is the biggest case of any vehicle manufacturing company recalling its vehicle for any fault.
S-Presso is the most affordable car of Maruti-Suzuki
Let us tell that on 27 September 2022, Maruti-Suzuki India introduced the affordable S-Presso hatchback car in the Indian car market for less than five lakh rupees, which is said to be good in terms of looks and features as well as mileage. Maruti Suzuki S-Presso was also offered in CNG option, but later the S-Presso CNG was discontinued. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is offered in a total of 6 variants across 4 trims namely Std, LXi, VXi(O) and VXi+(O) with prices ranging from Rs 4.25 lakh to Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Maruti S-Presso is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine, which generates power up to 68 PS and 90 Nm torque. This hatchback car has been introduced in 5 speed manual transmission as well as 5 speed automatic transmission option. In terms of mileage, the standard and LXI manual variants of the S-Presso offer a mileage of up to 24.12 kmpl, the VXi and VXi+ variants with manual transmission offer up to 24.76 kmpl and the VXi(O) and VXi+(O) variants with the automatic transmission option have a mileage of up to 25.30 kmpl.
Maruti-Suzuki Eco Van
At the same time, Maruti Suzuki India launched the Eeco Van in November 2022 with a new more powerful engine and increased mileage. Maruti has added new 1.2-litre K series engines to the 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Eeco, replacing the old G12B petrol engine. Ex-showroom prices for the 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Eeco start at Rs. 5.10 lakhs. The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Eeco is available in 13 variants, including 5-seater, 7-seater, cargo, tour and ambulance. Maruti Eeco has been a natural choice for thousands of buyers in the van segment. The only one of its kind in India, the Eeco often features in the top 10 cars in India as well.
Maruti-Suzuki had recalled 17,000 vehicles in January as well.
Earlier, in the year 2023 also, the automaker Maruti Suzuki India had recalled more than 17,000 vehicles. This included Alto K10, Brezza and Baleno. Maruti-Suzuki India had said that it has recalled 17,362 vehicles of Alto K10, Brezza and Baleno models to check and replace faulty airbags. This includes models of Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara. These vehicles were manufactured between December 8, 2022 and January 12, 2023.
Eeco 40,453 units were recalled in December 2022
Earlier, the company had recalled 40,453 units of Eeco in December 2022 as well. These vehicles were manufactured between November 4, 2019 and February 25, 2021. Also, there were some eco vehicles in which the headlamps were changed in the field.
