Maruti, Hyundai and Toyota boom in India, record sales of cars in September

New Delhi : As soon as the festive season starts in India, there is a rise in the sales of vehicles. Especially, a record increase is being recorded in the demand for cars. As a result, record sales of cars were recorded in India during September 2023. The biggest thing is that passenger vehicle manufacturing companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Toyota are making waves in the car market. According to a media report, Indian automakers have recorded a record in monthly sales by selling 3,63,733 cars and sports utility vehicles (SUVs) during the month of September. The huge surge in vehicle sales has led to increased dealer dispatch from factories to maintain stocks in advance for the upcoming major festivals Dussehra and Diwali. At the same time, with the increase in availability of semiconductors, vehicle manufacturers have also been able to increase production.

Festive season begins with Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi

Let us tell you that the festive season has started in India with Onam in Kerala and Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra. Along with this, booking and inquiries of cars have also increased. With the launch of new and updated version cars and SUVs, their demand remains strong. However, some pressure has been seen on sales of entry-level cars. Nevertheless, senior auto industry officials are optimistic that the pace of demand will remain strong and sales growth may be recorded in all segments during this festive season.

Maruti Suzuki sold the most cars

The biggest thing is that during September 2023, domestic car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India alone has sold about 1,50,812 cars. However, a year ago in September 2022, the company had sold 1,48,380 units of cars. Shashank Srivastava, senior executive officer, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki, said that monthly sales of passenger vehicles have recorded the best performance for the ninth consecutive month in September. Due to increase in consumer demand, half yearly sales have also crossed the two million mark for the first time.

Nine percent increase in sales of Hyundai Motor cars

Hyundai Motor India Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said that it achieved the highest ever total monthly sales in September 2023. This has helped in achieving an annual growth of more than nine percent in domestic sales in September 2023. The Korean automaker sold 54,241 passenger vehicles in the Indian market last month. At the same time, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) also recorded record monthly sales in September. Mahindra’s sales volume increased to 41,267 units in September.

Six percent increase in TVS motor sales

Total sales of TVS Motor Company increased by six percent on annual basis in September to 4,02,553 units. The company had shipped 3,79,011 vehicles to dealers in September, 2022. The company said in a statement on Monday that its total two-wheeler sales increased by seven percent to 3,86,955 units last month, from 3,61,729 units in September, 2022. The company’s sales in the domestic market increased by six percent from 2,83,878 units to 3,00,493 units. On the export front, the company said it exported 1,00,294 vehicles in September. The export figure in the same month a year ago was 86,462 units. The company’s two-wheeler exports increased to 86,462 units in the month under review, which was 77,851 units in September, 2022. However, the company’s three-wheeler sales declined to 15,598 units in September, which was 17,282 units in the same month last year.

Bajaj Auto sales recorded one percent decline

At the same time, total sales of Bajaj Auto in September declined by one percent on annual basis to 3,92,558 units. The company had sold 3,94,747 units in September 2022. Bajaj Auto Limited said in the information given to the stock market that the total sales of two-wheelers in September stood at 3,27,712 units, whereas in the year-ago period it was 3,48,355 units. Sales of domestic two-wheelers stood at 2,02,510 units, which was 2,22,912 units in the same month a year ago. There was a slight decline in the export of two-wheelers in September 2023. It stood at 1,25,202 units, whereas in September last year it was 1,25,443 units. According to the company, total commercial vehicle sales, however, increased by 40 percent to 64,846 units as against 46,392 units in the same period last year.

Nine percent increase in sales of Ashok Leyland

Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland’s vehicle sales in September stood at 19,202 units with a nine percent increase on an annual basis. The company had sold 17,549 vehicles in September last year. According to a statement issued by Ashok Leyland, domestic sales increased by 10 per cent to 18,193 units as against 16,499 units in the same month a year ago.
