Many villages of Bihar will get relief from flood, Daha river will be connected with Saryu, waiting for approval of the project

The Water Resources Department has prepared a DPR of Rs 125 crore to revive the Daha river, which originates from Gandak near Ahiraulidan in UP and connects Saryu in Siwan district. The department has also taken approval from the technical cell of the DPR prepared to give new life to the 179 km long river. Now the DPR has been sent to NWDA (National Water Development Agency) for approval.

Approval will be received by May 15

The department is confident that the project will be approved by May 15. After this, the work to connect Saryu river with Gandak will speed up. Due to this, water will be available in Daha river throughout the year. Where the river used to create havoc during the rainy season, a dam will be made there to make it safe. With this, apart from Kuchayakot, Thawe and Uchkagaon blocks of Gopalganj district, 42 villages of Siwan district will also get freedom from the floods that come every year. For this, the Water Resources Department has completed its homework. Approval from Ganga Flood Control Commission is also under process.

Daha river originates from UP

The Daha river originates from Ahiraulidan in UP, passes through Sallehpur in Gopalganj district and enters Siwan district near Badarjimi in Uchkagaon block. After this, passing through the city of Siwan, covering a distance of 179 km, the oats of Saran pass through Chhapra and merge into the Saryu river at Phulwaria in Tajpur.

DM took the initiative, then the effect started showing

DM Dr. Naval Kishore Chaudhary took the plight of Daha river seriously. On the initiative of DM, the MNREGA team also came and did the work of survey. Last year, a team of three secretary-level officers conducted a survey and submitted its report to the government. After that continuous monitoring was done in the department from the level of DM. The effect of DM’s initiative is now visible. Hopes have arisen to revive the river.
