Police registered a case on August 9
According to the police, an FIR in this regard was registered at Bishnupur Mahila police station on August 9 and later it was transferred to Churachandpur police station for further investigation. According to the FIR, the woman (37) was gang-raped by some unidentified men from the Kuki community at Khumuzamba Meitei Leikai in Churachandpur district. According to the statement given to the police by the victim woman, around 6.30 pm on May 3, a group of miscreants from the Kuki community set several houses on fire including the woman’s house. Amidst the chaos, the woman tried to run away. However, after running for about half a kilometre, the woman was stopped by some men and sexually assaulted, police said quoting the FIR. Tension has further increased in Manipur after a video surfaced of two women belonging to the tribal community being paraded naked and molested.
