Maldives Lakshadweep Row: After the objectionable statements made by some Maldivian ministers on PM Modi, the entire Maldives is on the back foot. While the opposition parties in Maldives are attacking the government for making such statements, the tourism department of the country is now on its knees. A request is being made on behalf of the department. Following the statements of some ministers, Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) has said that it strongly condemns such derogatory comments. MATI has expressed regret over the statement of the ministers. MATI said in its statement that India is not only our nearest neighbor but also one of our important allies. India has always helped Maldives in times of crisis.
