Taking action against illegal sand mining in Bihar, Nawada District Police conducted a special raid on Tuesday and seized about 15 tractors from different police station areas. Along with this, three sand laden tractor tractors have been recovered, whose engine was opened and the sand mafia escaped. At the same time, two accused involved in sand mining have also been arrested. It is said that on the instructions of DM Ashutosh Kumar Verma and SP Ambrish Rahul, this special raid campaign was conducted against illegal sand mining in various police station areas of the district.

Six tracts laden with illegal sand seized near Madhuban

According to the information, six tractors laden with illegal sand have been seized from Nardiganj police station area near Madhuban. A tractor driver has been arrested from the spot. He has been identified as Nitish Kumar, son of Mohan Paswan, resident of Jorapur village of Deepnagar police station area of Nalanda district. Almost all the seized tractors are said to be from Rajgir and Giriyak areas of Nalanda district, which enter Giriyak area after 200 meters of illegal sand mining from the border area of Nawada district.

Mafia ran away with the engine

Six illegal sand laden tractors have been seized from different areas of Warisaliganj police station area. A tractor driver has been arrested from the spot. He has been identified as Rajvallabh Yadav, son of Jogendra Yadav, resident of Sheikhpurwa village of the police station area. Apart from this, two tractors have been seized by Kadirganj assistant station police from Sakri river near Jamuawan village. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the sand traders opened the doors of three tractors and ran away with the engines. Police have seized three boxes laden with sand. There is no number on the tractor rack of the sand trader.

FIR lodged against owners of seized tractors

Akbarpur police has also seized an illegal sand laden tractor. Mining Inspector Apoorva Singh has said that about 15 tractors and three sand laden trucks involved in illegal sand mining have been seized from different police station areas of the district. An FIR has been registered in the concerned police station under the Illegal Sand Mining, Transportation and Storage Act against all the seized tractors and recovered stakes. A fine of around Rs 30450 has been imposed per tractor. Whereas two accused involved in mining have also been jailed in judicial custody on the basis of the FIR registered.

Illegal business of sand mining is not stopping in the district

It is noteworthy that despite continuous campaign against illegal sand mining in the district, there is no stop to illegal sand mining. Illegal sand traders from the district and neighboring districts of Nalanda district are carrying out illegal mining in broad daylight. Now, when the businessmen see the police, they run away leaving their tractors laden with sand in the river. For the sake of sand theft, the illegal sand trader does not keep the numbers in the tractors’ docks, so that the police can be easily deceived in sand theft. Traffic police also need to keep an eye on tractors without numbers.

Businessmen became a challenge for the police

For about two months, mining is being done from three sand ghats out of total 29 sand ghats in the district. In this, sand is being lifted from Karanpur sand ghat, Lakhmohan sand ghat, Jamuawan Patwasarai sand ghat through sensors. This means that despite sand being easily available, illegal sand traders are not desisting from stealing sand. Controlling illegal sand traders remains a challenge for the police.
