Mahua Moitra : Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra Enforcement Directorate Ignoring the ED summons, she has said that she will campaign in Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency today. He was asked to appear for questioning at the ED office in Delhi on Thursday i.e. today. The Trinamool candidate from Krishnanagar said that he has a campaign program in the morning in Kaliganj, which falls in his Lok Sabha constituency.
ED had sent summons in the Foreign Exchange Management Act case
It is noteworthy that ED had issued fresh summons to Moitra and Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani for questioning in the case of violation of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Mahua Moitra had been called for questioning twice before by the central agency, but she did not appear citing official work and demanded postponement of the notice. According to ED sources, a case has been registered against Mahua under the Foreign Exchange Control Act. Some cases of foreign exchange transactions are in the cognizance of the investigating authorities.

Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December for “immoral conduct”. His party has again made him a candidate from Krishnanagar seat of West Bengal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Central Investigation Agency (CBI) had raided the TMC leader’s premises on Saturday in connection with allegedly taking money and asking questions. A few days before this, Lokpal had directed CBI to investigate the allegations made against Moitra by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. Moitra says that he has not done anything wrong.
