Mahatma title given to Gandhiji

Subhash Chandra Bose had also given the title of Bapu to Gandhiji on 6 July 1944. He received this title when Gandhiji’s wife Kasturba Gandhi died. “Bapu” means “father”. Gandhiji received the title of “Mahatma” and “Father of the Nation”.

Actually there were ideological differences between Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, but Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose always respected Mahatma Gandhi. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the first to call Mahatma Gandhi the Father of the Nation. In his speech at Rangoon Radio Station on 6 July 1944, Subhash Chandra Bose called Gandhiji the Father of the Nation. Subhash Chandra Bose had said, ‘Father of our nation, I seek your blessings and good wishes in the holy fight for India’s freedom.
