Maharashtra: 3 people died due to building collapse in Bhiwandi, CM met the injured, announced compensation

Due to the collapse of a dilapidated building in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, 22 people were buried under the debris, while 12 people have been pulled out so far, in which 3 people have died. At the same time, some people have also been injured in this accident. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Along with this, he said that the state government will also bear the expenses of the treatment of the injured.

The accident took place in Vardhaman Compound located in Walpada, Bhiwandi

The incident happened in the afternoon at Vardhaman compound located in Kailasnagar (Valpada) of Bhiwandi. According to the information, 3 to 4 families lived on the second floor of the building. There the laborers were working on the lower floor of the building. About 22 people were feared trapped in the debris of the building.

Five lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the relatives of the deceased.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed grief over the incident of building collapse in Bhiwandi. Along with this, he has also directed to give five lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He has also given instructions to get the injured treated at government expense. Along with this, the administration was also instructed that the police, fire brigade, NDRF and other rescue teams should do the rescue work properly and the injured should be immediately taken to the hospitals and treatment should be started. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also expressed grief over the incident of building collapse in Bhiwandi and paid tribute to the dead. He wished speedy relief to those injured in the incident.

The building was only 14 years old, owner arrested

ACP Bhiwandi Kishore Khairnare said that this building is 14 years old. NDRF team is also present on the spot and rescue operation is going on. He said that 8 to 10 people are still stranded. Three people have died in this accident. Those who died include 40-year-old Navnath Sawant and 26-year-old Lakshmidevi Ravi Mahato. Both the dead bodies buried in the debris have been taken out and handed over to the Bhiwandi policemen. Madan Vallah, officer of Bhiwandi’s Narpoli police station, told that there was a factory on the ground floor of the building. There the families lived on the first and second floors. Some family members had gone to work at the time of the accident. The police have arrested the building owner.
