Lucknow : Harvinder Singh alias Jugnu Walia, a close associate of UP’s mafia Mukhtar Ansari, has been arrested by the Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police. Till late Sunday evening, the Lucknow Commissionerate Police kept denying his arrest. Although Punjab Police’s DGP Gaurav Yadav gave this information by tweeting in the night. After this, preparations have been started to interrogate the accused by bringing them on transit remand. DGP wrote- This action is part of the ongoing campaign under the strategy to destroy the network of criminals in Punjab.

UP Police has announced a reward of one lakh
Several cases of murder, attempt to murder and extortion were registered against Jugnu Walia and the police was looking for him. For the arrest of Jugnu, the UP police has also announced a reward of one lakh rupees. His name surfaced in the murder of Chikchik restaurant owner Jaswinder Singh alias Romi on 27 October 2021 in Chandernagar, Alambagh. After which the police and STF were looking for him.
Significantly, on March 16, 2022, the house of Jugnu Walia, who was absconding in the murder of the restaurant owner, was attached. During this, goods worth Rs 2.25 crore were seized from Jugnu Walia’s house. At the same time, on January 10, 2019, his name also figured in the murder of cloth merchant Amanpreet in Manaknagar. After which the police seized five luxury vehicles of Jugnu in August 2020.

Jugnu Walia of Mafia Mukhtar Ansari is very close. At the behest of Mukhtar, he used to make arrangements ranging from murder to the stay of the gang members and their bail. The DGP wrote in the tweet – A pistol, six live cartridges, foreign currency and a car have been recovered from the possession of Jugnu. Punjab Police has started further investigation by registering an FIR against Jugnu.
