Lucknow News: Now watching a movie in the cinema hall in Lucknow will be expensive, Municipal Corporation will increase the tax four times.

Bad news is coming for cinema lovers in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow. Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has approved the proposal to impose higher taxes on cinema halls in the city, a decision aimed at boosting the revenue of the civic body. At present the Municipal Corporation collects tax of Rs 25 per show, but it has been proposed to increase it to around Rs 100. For which a committee will be formed. Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal said on Thursday that the tax on cinema halls had not been reviewed for many years, hence it is necessary to review it. About 350 shows are run daily in all the multiplex theaters of Lucknow city. In such a situation, officials said that if tax rates are increased then LMC will earn four times more revenue.

Consultation should have been taken before taking the decision – UP Cinema Federation

An official of UP Cinema Federation said that at least we should have been consulted before taking the decision. This will definitely have an impact on the common man. If theaters are forced to pay more, they will have to raise ticket prices. Let us tell you that earlier in the year 2018 also, a provision of increasing tax on shows in theaters was brought. Which was directly increased from Rs 25 to Rs 600 per show. At present it could not be implemented due to opposition. As soon as this decision is implemented, its effect will be seen in the theaters of Lucknow. Due to increase in tax rates, the ticket prices of cinema halls will increase, which will directly disturb the customers.
