Lucknow News: Even after many decades of freedom struggle, these buildings of Lucknow still have images of freedom

Lucknow News: The way Lucknow played a role in the first Jang-e-Azadi (Freedom War), similarly it was involved in the second decisive war and movement of independence. Even after many decades have passed, those images of freedom are still visible in many buildings of the city. Even though many historical sites have been lost or blurred over time, but the buildings which once used to be the stronghold of revolutionaries and freedom fighters, their traces are still present in some form or the other. Mahatma Gandhi came to the capital for the second time on August 8, 1921 as part of the freedom movement and preached Swadeshi in Gunge Nawab Park. Emphasizing on Swadeshi, Gandhi had said that if we use the things made in our country, then the business establishments of the British will be closed. With economic weakness will come indigenous strength. Impressed by his speech, here a patriot gifted a watch to Gandhi for the promotion of Swadeshi, which he auctioned for 100 rupees.
