Lucknow: Campaign launched against unlicensed dog keepers, 5-5 thousand in fine recovered from IAS-IPS too

Lucknow : In the capital Lucknow, many people found it costly for dog lovers to keep dogs without license. On Thursday, the Municipal Corporation launched a pet dog license checking campaign, under which Animal Welfare Officer Dr. Abhinav Verma along with the team went to various places in the city and checked. During this, 46000 rupees were recovered from 11 people, who were keeping dogs without licenses. At the same time, unlicensed dogs have also been found in posh areas sitting on high positions or retired IAS and IPS officers. The Municipal Corporation has collected 5-5 thousand rupees from all of them as fine.

This campaign of checking the licenses of dogs was started by the animal welfare officer on the instructions of the Additional Municipal Commissioner. In this, Gomtinagar, Butler Palace, Gokhale Marg, Maharana Pratap Marg, Dalibagh Colony, Park Road, Hazratganj, besides Gomtinagar’s Vipul Khand, Vishal Khand, Patrakarpuram intersection area. When unlicensed dogs were found in the officers’ homes, the officers and their families tried to put pressure on the team. However, this pressure did not work and he had to pay the fine.

At present, the license fee for foreigners and their cross dogs is Rs 1000. On the other hand, the license fee for a native breed dog is Rs 200. So far, only 2040 licenses have been issued by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, whereas in the last financial year about 8000 licenses were made. Told that in case of non-payment of fine during license checking, action can also be taken to confiscate the dog.

Owner will be sued in case of bite
