Lottery of Maruti, Mahindra, Hyundai and Honda started, Lakshmi is enjoying record breaking sales of SUV cars.

Auto Sales in November 2023: During the festive season in India, a lottery was held for companies making and selling cars. Due to the huge demand for SUV cars from customers, a huge jump has been recorded in the sales of car manufacturers in November 2023. The situation is that due to huge demand from customers, these companies have made record-breaking sales of cars and passenger vehicles last month. According to media reports, sales of passenger vehicles reached an all-time record level in November due to vehicle manufacturers increasing production and supply to meet the increased demand for vehicles during the festive season. Last month, a total of 3.35 lakh passenger vehicles were wholesaled in India, which is the highest figure till date. This is about 3.9 percent more than the figure of 3.22 lakh vehicles in November, 2022.

Expected to sell 41 lakh units this year

Shashank Srivastava, senior executive officer of sales and supply of India’s leading automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India, said that this is the highest wholesale figure so far in November for the passenger vehicle segment. Increase in wholesale sales was recorded due to increase in production due to increased demand during festivals and availability of electronic equipment. He said that amid this boom, the automobile industry is expected to sell more than 41 lakh units in the current financial year.

Huge demand for SUV in India

The biggest thing is that the demand for sports utility vehicles (SUVs) in India has continued to grow and the share of this segment in total sales in November was more than 50 percent. Maruti sold 1,34,158 passenger vehicles domestically in November, which is 1.33 percent more than 1,32,395 vehicles a year ago. In this, sales of small cars like Alto and S-Presso declined to 9,959 units. Similarly, sales of models like Baleno, Celerio, Dezire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR also declined to 64,679 units from 72,844 units a year ago. However, sales of Maruti’s SUV models like Brezza, Ertiga, FrontX, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, S-Cross and XL6 stood at 49,016 units last month, which was 32,563 units in November, 2022.

68 percent jump in Hyundai sales

Hyundai Motor India, India’s second largest automobile manufacturer, recorded domestic sales of 49,451 units in November, up from 48,002 units a year ago in 2022. SUVs contributed the maximum 68 percent to Hyundai’s total sales. Hyundai Motor India Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said that the growth momentum is sustained, but the trend of reducing stocks before the end of the year may reduce wholesale sales in December. When asked about increasing the prices of vehicles, he said that we will finalize the quantum of price increase in the next few weeks and we will try to have minimal impact on consumers.

Mahindra’s SUV car sales register 32 percent increase

Domestic automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra wholesaled 39,981 utility vehicles in November, which is 32 percent more than 30,238 units a year ago. Mahindra & Mahindra President (Automotive Division) Vijay Nakra said that we are continuing our growth driven by strong demand for our SUV portfolio. Although it was a good festive season, supply challenges were also faced in select parts. We are constantly keeping an eye on these challenges. At the same time, Tata Motors sold 46,143 units including electric vehicles (EV) in November, which is one percent less than 46,425 units in the same month a year ago.

Honda car sales increased by 24 percent

Honda Cars India’s domestic wholesale sales increased by 24 per cent to 8,730 units last month, from 7,051 units a year ago. Company Director (Marketing and Sales) Yuichi Murata said that our new SUV Elevate has received a very good response in the market. Customers are liking it a lot. Meanwhile, MG Motor India said its retail sales increased by two percent to 4,154 units in November. A year ago it had sold 4,079 vehicles.
