Loksabha Election: CEO appeals to the people of Bihar to vote

Loksabha Election: Chief Election Officer (CEO), Bihar H.R. A voter awareness program was organized today at Patna Women’s College under the chairmanship of Srinivas. Addressing first-time voters and other students, professors and officials, the Chief Electoral Officer said that he is extremely happy to know that in the last 10 to 15 years, women of our state are taking part in the electoral process and Their participation has increased significantly. He said that even during the Corona period, the voters of Bihar expressed their faith in democracy and rejected all obstacles by voting in the Assembly elections, 2020. During that period, the voting percentage in the elections was 57.33% in entire Bihar. In this, women voters strengthened democracy by voting more than male voters. In this election, while the voting percentage of men was around 54%, the voting percentage of women was 59%. In the special short revision campaign of photo electoral list based on the qualifying date of 01.01.2024, the total number of electors has increased by 12,09,347, in which the number of male electors has increased by 5,78,766 and the number of female electors has increased by 6. ,30,597. It may be noted that in the final publication of the electoral list this year, the total number of electors is 7,64,33,329.

The Chief Electoral Officer appealed to all the girl students to vote in this Loksabha General Election along with their parents, other family members, relatives and all known persons.

The Chief Electoral Officer described the adult franchise granted by the Constitution as invaluable and said that although voting is not legally binding in our country, it is our moral duty to vote to strengthen our democracy.

The Chief Electoral Officer informed about the challenges posed by social media and AI and said that today fake news is rapidly propagated and spread on social media platforms. All of you should not trust any such information without checking it. The Chief Electoral Officer said that the Election Commission of India has taken steps to actively prevent the spread of misinformation in this election. ‘Myth vs Reality Register’ Has started. It is a one-stop platform for reliable and authentic election related information in easy format at the click of a button.

Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar said that it is our collective responsibility to vote in elections and motivate people to vote. He appealed and said that we should vote with pride for the bright future of ourselves and the country.

In his address at the program, District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate, Patna, Shirrat Kapil Ashok told the present girl students about the importance of voting in democracy, describing them as the future of the country. He said that 400 girl students have added their names to the voter list from this college to strengthen democracy. He also thanked the college’s Campus Ambassador, Electoral Literacy Club and Voter Awareness Forum for their contribution in the ongoing voting awareness campaign.

The Chief Electoral Officer also administered the Voter Awareness Pledge to the first-time voters, girl students, professors and officers present and called upon everyone to play an active role in voting.

Chief Electoral Officer, District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate, Deputy Development Commissioner, Professor, and other officers also participated in it.

Selfie booth was also constructed for voting awareness among the students where the girl students were enthusiastically taking selfies with the resolve to vote.

On this occasion, Deputy Development Commissioner, Patna, Sub-Divisional Officer Patna Sadar, college professors and others were also present.
