Lok Sabha Elections: ‘India’ alliance broke in Punjab, BJP changed its strategy! Talks did not work out with Akali Dal

Why did there be tension between BJP and Akali Dal?

According to media reports, when Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab talked about fielding different candidates apart from the alliance, BJP made a slight change in its strategy. The issues of farmers’ movement and release of Sikh prisoners were being raised by Akali Dal. An attempt was being made to put pressure on BJP through this. Not only this, the BJP leadership of Punjab was also uneasy about the alliance. If you remember, the Central Government had brought new agricultural laws for the farmers, at that time the Akali Dal had opposed it. The tension between the two parties had increased so much that the Akali Dal had even decided to break ties with the NDA. After this, Akali Dal contested the Punjab Assembly elections in alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party.
