lok sabha election 2024 During the vehicle checking campaign, Rs 22 lakh has been recovered from a Scorpio. Vehicle checking campaign was being conducted by Muzaffarpur Police near Kodarkatta village of Motipur police station area. Bettiah resident Vinod Kumar was carrying Rs 22 lakh in his Scorpio car on Saturday. However, Vinod Kumar told that he was taking this money for his niece’s wedding. The administration has deposited the seized money in SBI.
On receiving information about the seizure of money, Income Tax Department officer Ashok Kumar interrogated the person carrying the money. CO Ruchi Kumari said that an intensive vehicle checking campaign is being conducted with the police regarding the Lok Sabha elections. Vehicle checking was being done with the police near Kodarkatta village on Saturday. During this time the Scorpio was searched, out of which Rs 22 lakh was found. The money was kept in a bag and hidden inside the seat.
All the notes recovered are of Rs 500. The CO said that when inquired about the money, Vinod Kumar did not give a satisfactory answer. Nor could he present official documents related to the money transactions. He told that the money has been seized on the suspicion that it was being taken to spend in elections. The Income Tax Department team has taken Vinod Kumar to the headquarters for questioning. The Income Tax Department team and police have deposited the recovered money in the Motipur branch of SBI.
