Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Formation of 1796 booths, cells in Palamu district… DC and SP gave information about administrative preparations.

The Election Commission has issued a notification regarding the Lok Sabha elections. District Election Officer cum Palamu DC Shashi Ranjan and Superintendent of Police Rishma Ramesan gave detailed information in the press conference on Saturday. DC said that voting for Palamu Lok Sabha elections is to be held on May 13. A notification regarding this will be issued on April 18. Sale of nomination papers and nomination work will start from the same day. The last date for nomination is 25th April. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on 26th April. Candidates can withdraw their names till 29th April. After voting on May 13, counting of votes will take place on June 4. DC said that the number of voters in Palamu district is 17 lakh 1 thousand 327. In which there are eight lakh 80 thousand 817 male voters and eight lakh 20 thousand 449 female voters. Whereas there is a voter of the third gender. The number of youth voters in the district is 62683. Six assistant election officers have been made in the district regarding the elections. Municipal Commissioner Mohammad Javed Hussain, Trainee IS Ravi Kumar, Sadar SDO Anurag Tiwari, Deputy Election Officer Kanu Ram Nag were present in the press conference.

Voting will take place at 1796 polling stations.

DC gave information about the administrative preparations so far for the Lok Sabha elections. Told that 1796 booths have been made in 1358 buildings in all the five assembly constituencies of the district. Also various cells have been formed. Nodal officers, in-charge officers and personnel have been deputed in all cells. DC said that the model code of conduct has come into force in the district after the notification of Lok Sabha elections was issued. To comply with this, 45 flying squad teams and 45 static surveillance teams have been formed. Eight interstate checkposts have been made for the elections. Security has been tightened here. 24 hour vehicle checking has been ordered. During the elections, transportation of illegal cash, liquor, drugs and other intoxicants and illegal weapons will be investigated. DC said that helicopters will be used to deliver polling party and goods to remote Bhandaria and Badgad of Daltonganj Vis area.

Program will be run to increase voting percentage

DC said that to strengthen democracy it is necessary for voters to be aware. The district administration has set a target of more than 80 percent voting in the Lok Sabha elections. For the last several months, activities have been carried out to make voters aware about this. The area where less than 50 percent voting took place in the last election. A program will be run to make the voters there aware. Superintendent of Police Rishma Ramesan said that the aim of the administration is to conduct elections in a peaceful environment. In connection with the elections, raids and action have been taken against the trade of illicit liquor and other drugs. Till now, illicit liquor worth Rs 8 lakh 13 thousand has been seized and destroyed. The SP said that for the purpose of maintaining peace during the elections, a proposal to impose CCA against six criminals was sent to the government. In which CCA has been imposed on two criminals for six months from the month of January. To stop organized crime, action has been taken to arrest anti-social elements. Peace and security arrangements will be tight during the elections. For this, two companies of CRPF and IRB and SAT personnel are deployed in Palamu.
