Lok Sabha Elections 2024: ECI adopts cutting edge technology for free and fair elections

Lok Sabha Election 2024: The Election Commission held a press conference on Saturday, March 16, 2024, to announce the dates of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. During the press conference, ECI told the voters that they are using technology to ensure free and fair elections in the country. ECI revealed that it is offering 27 apps and portals for all stakeholders. These apps and portals cover various aspects of the election process, including reporting of code of conduct violations, KYC for informed voting, a new results portal to improve the experience on result day.

Keeping in mind the convenience of voters, the Commission has launched Voter Assistance App (VHA) which allows users to apply online form, check their name in the voter list, view polling station details, connect with their BLO/ERO and download Will allow. The Commission has also launched a CVigil app to ensure free and fair elections. CVigil is a single app for recording, reporting and resolution of all violations of the Model Code of Conduct. The Commission has promised to respond to all complaints on the CVigil app within a time limit of 100 minutes. Apart from this, complaints can also be made anonymously on the app.

To help voters make informed voting decisions, the Commission has also launched a KYC portal and app. Along with this, voters can also know about the criminal history of the candidates from the portal. Further, to ensure level playing field for all candidates, the Commission has also launched an online portal for filing nominations and affidavits. Candidates can also use the portal to seek permission for rallies, meetings etc.
