Lok Sabha Election: Candidates from 11 castes have been winning 17 seats for 15 years

Lok Sabha Election In 2008, fresh delimitation was done for the Lok Sabha elections and the 2009 Lok Sabha elections were conducted on the basis of this new delimitation. Three Lok Sabha elections have been held so far in 2009. In this, 17 out of total 40 seats in Bihar were dominated by the candidates of 11 castes. In these three elections, only Rajput candidates won on four seats, Yadav on three and Bhumihar caste candidates won on two seats. Brahmin and Kayastha candidates have been winning one seat each for 15 years. At the same time, candidates from Koeri, Kurmi, Paswan, Nishad, Manjhi and Vaishya castes have dominance on one seat each. Only candidates of 11 castes are reaching Parliament after winning about 40 percent seats in the state in the last three elections. Dominance of Rajputs in Maharajganj, Aurangabad, Arrah and Vaishali.

Umashankar Singh had won from Maharajganj in 2009. This seat is held by BJP’s Janardan Singh Sigriwal from 2014 till now. In Vaishali, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh of RJD won in 2009, Rama Singh of LJP in 2014 and Veena Devi won from here in 2019. BJP’s Sushil Singh has been winning elections from Aurangabad seat since 2009. JDU’s Meena Singh was successful in winning the elections from Arrah in 2009 and then BJP’s RK Singh in 2014 and 2019.

Only Yadav candidates kept winning in Madhepura, Madhubani and Patliputra. In Madhepura, Sharad Yadav from JDU won in 2009, Pappu Yadav from RJD in 2014 and Dineshchandra Yadav from JDU won in 2019. In Madhubani, Chaudhary Hukumdev Narayan Yadav from BJP won in 2009 and 2014 and Ashok Kumar Yadav from BJP won in 2019. In 2009, Ranjan Yadav of JDU defeated RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav from Patliputra. BJP’s Ramkripal Yadav has been winning elections from here since 2014. Bhumihar candidates from Nawada and Munger became winners in three elections.

In Nawada, BJP’s Bhola Singh had won in 2009 and Giriraj Singh had won in 2014. In 2019, LJP’s Chandan Singh won from here. Lalan Singh had won in Munger in 2009 and 2019. In 2014, Surajbhan Singh’s wife Veena Devi was successful in winning from here.

Only the Kurmi candidate gets victory from Nalanda. Kaushalendra Kumar is JDU’s MP from Nalanda seat. He comes from Kurmi caste. Kaushalendra Kumar is holding this seat from 2009 till now. Earlier in 2004, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had won from here. Karakat: Karakat Lok Sabha seat, famous as Kushwaha Land, came into existence in 2009. In 2009, Mahabali Singh of JDU won from here and in 2014, Upendra Kushwaha of RLSP won from here. In 2019, Mahabali Singh won again from JDU. Mahabali Singh comes from Kushwaha caste. This time, Upendra Kushwaha is the NDA candidate from here. Brahmin candidates have been becoming candidates from Darbhanga seat. Kirti Azad from BJP won from Darbhanga in the year 2009 and 2014. Gopalji Thakur was successful in winning from here in 2019. Both are Brahmins. Patna Sahib: Kayastha candidates have been winning continuously for three elections.

Shatrughan Sinha became MP from Patna Sahib in 2009 and 2014 on BJP ticket. In 2019, BJP candidate Ravi Shankar Prasad won from here. Ravi Shankar Prasad is in the fray this time too. It was in the hands of Manjhi that sometimes Harilal Manjhi and sometimes Vijay Manjhi won from Patwargaya.

BJP’s Harilal Manjhi won from Gaya Lok Sabha in 2009 and 2014. In 2019, JDU’s Vijay Kumar Manjhi was successful in winning from here. Muzaffarpur seat is lucky for Nishad Rajsahni candidates in Muzaffarpur.

Captain Jayanarayan Nishad from JDU won in Muzaffarpur in 2009. In 2014 and 2019, his son Ajay Nishad retained this seat on BJP ticket.

West Champaran: Only Sanjay Jaiswal has won from 2009 till now BJP’s Sanjay Jaiswal has been winning the election from West Champaran Lok Sabha seat since 2009 till now. This time also BJP has bet on Sanjay Jaiswal. Paswan is being elected from Samastipur.

In Samastipur, Maheshwar Hazari from JDU won in 2009, Ramchandra Paswan from LJP won in 2014 and 2019. Ramchandra Paswan died after a few months. His son Prince Paswan won the by-election.
