Common people are looking for a leader with a clean image to represent them.

Referring to his age, he said that Sudip Bandyopadhyay is also 75 years old. He is not much younger than me. But yes, Tapas Roy is definitely very young. I believe that the people of Kolkata North will elect their MP politically. They have to think very clearly. We all know that ‘Trinamool has links with BJP.’ The Congress leader, once elected to the Lok Sabha in 1996, said that the events of Sandeshkhali reminded him of 19th century social reformer Rammohan Roy. He said, “Rammohan Roy fought for women’s rights, remarriage of widows and their right to property. Sandeshkhali showed how women are tortured here. “The time has come that another renaissance is necessary for Bengal and it will start from North Kolkata.” Voting will be held in Kolkata North constituency on June 1.
