Lok Sabha Election 2024: Police observer on tour of districts from today

Special police observers are starting district visits from today. This information was given by Additional Chief Electoral Officer Arindam Niyogi in a press conference organized in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state. It is noteworthy that preparations are going on for the Lok Sabha elections.

Lok Sabha Center will visit Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar

He told that from Tuesday, Special Police Supervisor Anil Kumar Sharma will start visiting the districts. During this, he will visit three Lok Sabha centers Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar. Shri Niyogi said that in the first phase, elections are held on these three seats only. In such a situation, Anil Kumar Sharma will take stock of the law and order and sensitive booths in these Lok Sabha centres. During his journey, he will also hold meetings with various administrative officials.

More than 10 thousand voters applied for voting from home in the second phase

Shri Niyogi said that a total of 10 thousand 658 voters have applied to vote through ballot paper from home in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections. Among those who voted from home, a total of 4416 voters have filed 12D form in Darjeeling Lok Sabha Centre. These include people aged 80 years or older, disabled people and people involved in emergency work. Similarly, 3993 voters from Rayangaj and 2249 voters from Balurghat have filled the form for voting from home.
