Lok Sabha Election 2024: Manish Sisodia filed petition in court

Lok Sabha Election 2024: Since the announcement of the date of Lok Sabha elections, the parties are working to woo the public. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is in tension because its two senior leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are in jail. Meanwhile, there is news that Sisodia has approached the court requesting interim bail for election campaign. In this regard, a petition has been filed on his behalf in the court on Friday.

Let us discuss here that ‘AAP’ leader Manish Sisodia has been arrested by CBI and ED in the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam case. Special judge for CBI and ED cases Kaveri Baweja can hear this petition. The investigating agency CBI as well as ED have alleged that irregularities were committed while revising the excise policy and undue benefits were given to license holders.

What have the investigating agencies alleged?

It has been said by the investigating agency that the work of waiving the license fee was done or it was reduced. Not only this, the decision was taken to extend the license without the approval of the competent authority. It was also alleged by the investigating agencies that the beneficiaries had provided illegal benefits to the accused and also made wrong entries in their books to avoid investigation.

When was Sisodia arrested

Investigating agency CBI has arrested former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia for his alleged role in the scam. He was arrested on 26 February 2023. ED had arrested Sisodia on March 9, 2023 in the money laundering case arising out of the CBI FIR. After the entire episode, Sisodia had resigned from the Delhi Cabinet on 28 February 2023.

Manish Sisodia’s judicial custody extended till April 24

Meanwhile, there is news that Manish Sisodia’s judicial custody has been extended till April 24 in the Delhi liquor scam case.
