Although the Congress candidate had won the 2018 by-election, Raghu Sharma immediately resigned from the membership of the Lok Sabha.

History of Ajmer

Ajmer is a historical place. This city was established by Ajayraj Singh, a Chauhan king, in the seventh century. Initially its name was Ajaymeru. Mughals also ruled here. Ajmer is also famous for the Dargah of Moinuddin Chishti. According to the 2011 survey, the total population here is 26,36,370. The literacy rate here is 59.83 percent.
