Krishna Kumar, Patna
Lok Sabha election 2024 With the sounding of the Lok Sabha election bugle, excitement has intensified regarding the voting for four seats in the first phase to be held on April 19. These include Aurangabad, Nawada, Gaya and Jamui Lok Sabha constituencies. The special thing is that the candidates who win three out of these four seats will reach the Lok Sabha for the first time as MPs. On the only Aurangabad seat, BJP has placed its bet on its old face Sushil Kumar Singh. Before this, he has gone to Lok Sabha after winning the elections four times. If RJD candidate Abhay Kumar Singh, who contested against him, wins the election, he will also become MP for the first time.

Nawada Lok Sabha constituency
This time BJP has made Vivek Thakur its candidate from Nawada Lok Sabha constituency. He is the son of former Union Minister Dr. CP Thakur and himself a Rajya Sabha MP. RJD has also made Shravan Kushwaha its candidate as a new face from here. At present there is a possibility of a main contest between these two. Independent candidate Vinod Yadav is also contesting from here. Earlier in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Chandan Singh had won the election from Nawada seat on LJP ticket. His main contest here was with Vibha Devi of RJD. Chandan Singh got around 4.95 lakh votes, while RJD’s Vibha Devi got 3.47 lakh votes.

Gaya Lok Sabha constituency
This time, former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi is contesting from Gaya Lok Sabha constituency on Hindustani Awam Morcha (SE) (Hum) ticket. His main contest is likely to be with RJD’s Kumar Sarvjeet. Kumar Sarvjeet was a minister in the grand alliance government. With the entry of these two new candidates into the electoral fray, the contest is likely to be interesting. However, JDU’s Vijay Kumar won in the 2019 elections. He got about 4.67 lakh votes. Last time, Jitan Ram Manjhi was the Grand Alliance supported candidate from here and he got around 3.13 lakh votes. If either Manjhi or Kumar Sarvjeet wins, he will go to Parliament for the first time.

Jamui Lok Sabha constituency
This time LJP (RA) has given ticket to new candidate Arun Bharti from Jamui Lok Sabha constituency. His main contest is likely to be with RJD’s Archana Ravidas. LJP (RA) national president Chirag Paswan had won this seat reserved for Scheduled Castes in 2014 and 2019. In 2019, Chirag had won from here by more than two lakh votes. This time he has chosen Hajipur seat for himself.

Aurangabad seat
The main contest on Aurangabad seat is also likely to be between BJP and RJD. From here, BJP has placed its bet on its old face Sushil Kumar Singh. Before this, he has gone to Lok Sabha after winning the elections four times. He had won the elections from Aurangabad on Samata Party ticket in 1998, JDU ticket in 2009, and BJP ticket in 2014 and 2019. However, RJD has given ticket to Abhay Kumar Singh as a new face against him. He belongs to Kushwaha community.
