Lok Sabha Election 2024 Arun Govil files nomination from Meerut

Meerut: BJP candidate Arun Govil filed nomination from Meerut Hapur Lok Sabha seat (Lok Sabha Election 2024) on Tuesday. UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya was also present at the time of nomination. Arun Govil in saffron kurta greeted his supporters before nomination. It is noteworthy that Arun Govil had joined BJP during the West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections. Recently, after the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Arun Govil suddenly came into limelight. After this BJP gave him ticket from Meerut. Arun Govil was born and studied in Meerut.

Arun Govil’s birthplace is Mumbai but he was born in Meerut. This is the reason why BJP has given him ticket from Meerut (Lok Sabha Election 2024). Arun Govil was born in Meerut Cantt. His father was an engineer in the water supply department here. He also studied from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. After this he studied engineering. Arun Govil worked in many films in Mumbai. But Ramayan serial had taken him to every home of India. When Ramayana was telecast again during the Corona period, Arun Govil once again settled in everyone’s heart as Shri Ram. Arun Govil had joined BJP during the West Bengal Assembly elections. Now he is a Lok Sabha candidate from Meerut.

Meerut Lok Sabha seat (Lok Sabha Election 2024) is the center of politics of Western Uttar Pradesh. In 1952, Meerut was divided into three Lok Sabha constituencies. Meerut West, Meerut South and Meerut North East. Congress had won all these three seats. After this, in 1957, Meerut Lok Sabha seat became one. Then Shahnawaz Khan of Congress had won from here. In 1962, Shahnawaz Khan became MP from Congress for the third consecutive time. In 1967, MS Bharti of Socialist Party defeated Shahnawaz Khan of Congress. But in 1971, Shahnawaz was again elected MP from here. Mohsina Kidwai of Congress was elected MP in 1980 and 1984. After this, in 1989, Harish Pal of Janata Party (S) stopped the victory of Congress by defeating Mohsina Kidwai. BJP opened its account in Meerut in 1991. Amar Pal Singh became MP from here. After this, Amar Pal was elected MP in 1996 and 1998 also. In 1999, Avtar Singh Bhadana of Congress and again in 2004, BSP won from here. BJP has been continuously winning the last three elections in 2009, 2014 and 2019.
