Lok Sabha Chunav|JMM will clash with TMC in Bengal, beats in Odisha also

Lok Sabha ElectionsRanchi, Sunil Chaudhary: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will clash with India’s own ally Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. JMM will field a candidate from Jhargram Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal. It will be announced soon.

Lok Sabha Elections Kunar Hembram won on BJP ticket

In the year 2019, Kunar Hembram was elected MP on BJP ticket. Apart from TMC, BJP, JMM is also giving candidates for Jhargram seat. In the year 2019, however, JMM had supported TMC by not fielding a candidate there. But the situation has changed this time.

Jhargram Lok Sabha seat is in Medinipur and Purulia districts.

It is noteworthy that Jhargram parliamentary constituency is located in Medinipur and Purulia districts of West Bengal. The Santal tribe also has dominance in this seat reserved for the Scheduled Caste. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) had fielded Buddhadev Mandi from there. He got 15114 votes.

TMC’s Uma Soren won the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.

In the year 2014, Uma Saren of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) had won. CPM’s Dr Pulin Bihari Baske was at second position and Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Vikas Mudie was at third position.

JMM can indirectly benefit TMC

A senior JMM leader said that Santals have dominance in Jhargram. In such a situation, if JMM fields a candidate there, only TMC will indirectly benefit. If JMM does not field a candidate, Santal voters may move towards BJP. To stop BJP, JMM is fielding candidates there.

JMM will field candidate from Mayurbhanj of Odisha also

JMM will also field its candidate from Mayurbhanj seat in Odisha. Besides, it will also field candidates in 19 assembly seats. JMM’s Sudam Marandi was elected MP from Mayurbhanj in 2004. JMM lost there in 2009, 2014 and 2019.

JMM can again field Anjani Soren from Mayurbhanj

In the 2019 elections, Anjani Soren was in third place with more than 1.35 lakh votes. JMM is again considering fielding Anjani Soren there. Within a day or two, candidates should be announced from Jhargram seat in Bengal and Mayurbhanj seat in Odisha.

Jhapa supported candidate had won from Mayurbhanj in 1952

In the first elections held in independent India, RC Manjhi, a candidate supported by Jharkhand Party, was elected MP twice consecutively from Mayurbhanj seat of Odisha in the years 1952 and 1957. He has connections with Jharkhand.

JMM had demanded inclusion of Mayurbhanj in Jharkhand.

This is the reason why JMM had also included Mayurbhanj in the demand for Greater Jharkhand. At present, Salkhan Murmu, who is actively running the Sengal campaign in Jharkhand, has also won the elections from here in 1998 and 1999 on BJP ticket.
