Liquor will be sold under this policy in Jharkhand in the next financial year

Ranchi: Liquor will be sold in Jharkhand in the next financial year only under the current policy. The financial year 2023-24 will end on Sunday. In the new financial year, liquor will be sold in retail shops through a pre-selected placement agency. The placement agency for retail liquor sale in the state has been selected for the year 2025. In some districts, the agency was removed due to not selling liquor as per the conditions, there the placement agency has been selected again. Its process has also been completed. In this regard also, guidelines will be issued as per the provision. At present liquor is sold in the state under the supervision of JSBCL. Placement agency has been selected to sell retail liquor in shops.

Revenue target will be increased: Minister

Excise and Prohibition Minister Mithilesh Thakur said that the revenue target will be increased in the next financial year. A total revenue target of Rs 2360 crore was set in the current financial year. This time more revenue has been achieved than the set target. He said that how to further increase the revenue will be considered. After the Lok Sabha elections, the policy will also be reviewed as per requirement, so that the state can get more and more revenue.

How will the agency work without NOC from the department: Union

General Secretary of Jharkhand Liquor Traders Association, Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has said that it is mandatory for the placement agency to take NOC from the department to work in the next financial year. If the currently working placement agency is working, then the department will have to give NOC to the effect that there is no dues on the current agency. He has said that no agency can work without NOC. The union has also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer regarding the work of the agency.
